Senate Passes Violence Against Women Act – Will the House?
The US Senate passed the Violence Against Women Act Tuesday by an overwhelming majority, 78-22. Yes, there are 22 Republican Senators that think violence against women is OK. Here they are, for the record, courtesy of Think Progress:
Now the US House will take it up, hopefully anyway. They allowed the Act, passed by the Senate last session, to expire. Considering some of the hateful, anti-woman bills introduced so far this year, the fate of the Violence Against Women Act in the House is far from certain. So, be sure to contact your US Representative to support passage of VAWA.
